Year 5 created Lego robots using WeDo 2 coding programme on a tablet.
They designed, controlled and/or stimulated physical systems (adding sensors, motors, sounds, vibrations, winches). They then detected and corrected programming errors and explained algorithms used.
A huge well done to out KS2 Girls’ Football team. At the tournament last Thursday, they drew in a goalless match against Weston Crown, beat Jarrow Cross 2 nil and then lost in a friendly with St Aloysius.
Mrs Riley awarded the girls of the match:
– Payton Thompson for most improved footballer
– Maddie Dann for being everywhere on the pitch where she was needed
– Zoe Kennedy for excellent defending
– Kate Hall for excellent sportsmanship towards the other team
We are so pleased to report that they came top of their group and have now moved into a ‘Superleague’ to play the remaining games. Well done, girls and their coaches Mrs Riley and Mr Ferraro!
On Valentine’s Day, the whole school enjoyed Love Day – this terms celebration of all things music. Each class listened to and appreciated a selection of classic and popular songs with a love theme. They played and performed in solo and ensemble contexts and used their voices with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression. What a fantastic first ‘Love Day’ for Bede Burn!

This week in Year 4 we have been creating prototypes of our ancient Sumer-inspired sculptures as part of our art topic ‘Statues, Statuettes and Figurines’. We learned about wire armatures and used them to support our structures. Next week, we will be completing our Innovate task and will create our final structures.
This week, Reception were thinking like scientists.
Year 1 have been reading Katie in London as part of their Bright Lights, Big City topic.
Next week they will be writing their own adventure story about a trip to London. In preparation, they have spent time discussing the features of a story and finding out about popular London Landmarks.
As part of our Dinosaur topic we have been imagining what the world was like in prehistoric times with no iPads and no shops and where would the dinosaurs sleep.
We had lots of fun creating and exploring our dinosaur island.
Last week, Reception were ‘looking for the wind’!
We made wind sticks to find out which way the wind was blowing and to see how strong the wind was.
Year 6 created Kahoot quizzes about staying safe online to link to our Safer Internet Day Assembly.
