Y1 – Geography – Faraway Friday to London – 21.2.2025

22nd February 2025Helen Smith
Year 1 had an incredible London-themed day, dressed in red, white, and blue to celebrate our topic based around the capital! We kicked off with London-themed maths, comparing numbers and solving addition and subtraction word problems. Our writing took us on exciting adventures as we wrote our own London-inspired stories.

In computing, we programmed robots to navigate the city, and of course, no London day would be complete without a screening of Paddington! We even found time for a delightful tea party… thankfully, nobody slipped on a jam tart! It was a fantastic day full of learning, laughter, and a little bit of London magic.

Y4 – Science – Visit to the Glass Centre – 19.2.2025

20th February 2025Helen Smith
Year 4 have had an amazing introduction to their next science topic of “Changing Matter” that they will be starting after half term by a visit to the National Glass Centre.
We performed a range of experiments to see if our predictions would be correct when water was added to different substances and watched how glass is blown to create a beautiful wavy bowl after heating it to temperatures of 1,100 degrees!
To end a brilliant day, we planned and made our own glass designs that will be fired in the ovens at 780 degrees and collected over the holidays,
We are so excited for next term!
