A very proud moment for Mr Usher on Tuesday whose son Isaac came in to deliver an assembly to kickstart out Little Inventors initiative alongside South Tyneside Council. Isaac was lucky enough to be one of the winners last year and feature in the promotional video so popped by to share his experiences with our pupils. Fingers crossed for some more future scientists from Bede Burn this year!

Year Four are really happy with their completed glass fused tiles that they made recently on a visit to the National Glass Centre in Sunderland. Whilst there, they also took part in a workshop to investigate changing states of matter to introduce them to their new science topic.


After looking at L.S. Lowry’s simple art form in their latest art topic ‘People and Places’, Year Three tried drawing with detail, using their own hand as a model and applied their shading techniques to add depth and form.

Year Five are completing a blackout poetry sequence in English. Today, we explored three, very different blackout poems. We analysed and compared them by deciding which was our favourite poem and why, as well as uncovering the meaning behind each poem.

Year 5 completed this weeks Oracy task, describing land art focusing on uplevelling our vocabulary using synonyms.

As part of British Science week Year 3 had a fantastic live lesson this morning all about Amazing Adaptations and climate change!

As part of Science week, year 6 took part in an interactive workshop about animal adaptations, learning about Belted Galloway Cows and the African Zebu.

As part of science week, year 6 attended an online workshop “Can Whales Save the Environment?” linked to their Climate Change and Antarctic topics.
As part of Year 2’s science topic ‘Plant Survival’, we have been exploring the different shapes, sizes and textures of the leaves in our forest garden.
