Year 5 completed the second part of our computing lesson on Friday. We used charts to compare data and used advanced techniques to search for more than one field.

On Friday afternoon, Year 3 explored the outdoors to find magnetic and non-magnetic materials. The children used their magnets to tests different materials on our yard. We then had a discussion about why these materials might be magnetic or non-magnetic!

Year 4 had their penultimate Hockey lesson on Wednesday afternoon where we competed in a friendly tournament. We practised our dribbling, passing and shooting skills. We also practised our communicating with our team mates to use all the space available. We’ve really enjoyed our Hockey learning so far this half term.

Year 5 have been using their linguistic Oracy skills to think of some hyperboles linked to the benefits to having a home fruit and veg patch

Continuing with their Inuit Art topic, year 6 used printing techniques to produce fabulous works of art – Inuit style.
In art, year 6 have been learning about Inuit art carvings, particularly soapstone sculptures which play a prominent part in Inuit culture, often depicting animals. These carvings have been an Inuit tradition for thousands of years. Year 6 tried to replicate Inuit carvings by carving animals out of bars of soap.

Year 5 have been creating and using databases in computing today. We started off by creating our own paper versions of a record card database. We then used our iPads to examine how data could be recorded and viewed on a computer-based database. We investigated how records can be grouped and sorted to answer specific questions.

Well done to the Y5/6 girls and boys, who took part in the first South Tyneside NFL tag event today. Mrs Churchward and Mr McIntosh were so proud of their effort and team support.
Yesterday, Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their computing lesson. They focused on sequences and exploring commands in Scratch.

Year 1 have built on their data collection from last week by learning how to use Google Sheets. They had to total their tallies from the traffic survey before editing cells on Chromebooks. Very impressive Year 1 ⭐
