On Tuesday, Reception had a visit from Phillipa from The Word to teach us how to programme the Spheroes. We had so much fun learning to control them, race them, and even paint with them!

Year 4 had their final Hockey lesson this afternoon. We started with a super fun warm up game of Toilet Tig, but Hockey style before participating in two large Hockeyteam games. We had one last practise of our ball control, attacking and defending alongside our communication with the other remaining members of our team. We’ve really enjoyed our P.E. this half term.

Year 6 had a fantastic morning at The Centre of Life taking part in a workshop – Extreme materials in the Antarctic. They carried out an experiment to work out which material was most waterproof to use in clothing in the Antarctic and to ascertain which material was the strongest.
Yesterday, Year 2 visted to Souter Lighthouse as part of their topic ‘Coastline’. We all had an amazing day learning lots of different facts about the lighthouse, including a tour of the grounds and some of the class even climbed to the top of the lighthouse!

Reception have been learning all about 3D shapes in Maths, this morning we went on a ‘3D shape hunt’ outside to find all of the different 3D shapes we have in our outdoor area, we found so many!

On Friday, our friends from St Oswalds joined Reception for a morning of physical development. We had so much fun getting involved and trying out all of the activities. Well done everyone!

Year 6 had a very exciting computing day, creating their very own websites about Arctic animals linked to their Frozen Kingdoms topic.

In DT, year 6 investigated different ways to strengthen paper bridges, including: strengthening the layers; creating a u-shaped bridge and even producing concertina bridges with varying numbers of folds. They recorded their results then shared, discussed and compared their findings with the class.

In Year 2, we have been exploring colours and patterns, as part of our art topic ‘Flower Head’.
