Year 5 enjoyed a day at the Great North Museum in Newcastle on Friday, completing a workshop and learning all about the Ancient Greeks. We even enjoyed lunch al fresco ☀️

Year 5 conducted a range of experiments in Science on Friday last week, testing a range of everyday materials by their properties.

Year 5 continued their golf topic yesterday, striking the ball using our launchers towards a large target.

Year 4 enjoyed their second Tennis lesson in P.E. this afternoon. We recapped the fundamentals from last week before practising our forehand, single backhand and double backhand strokes. Check out some our in action Tennis skills!

As part of our Creep, Crawl and Wriggle topic, Reception have been making their very own bug jars! We used our fingers to print bug shapes into our jars before giving each of our bugs legs, wings, antenna and faces to create different types of bugs

Year Four thoroughly enjoyed their first session of Djembe Drumming with Derek on Friday. Originating from West Africa, the djembe drum body is made from hardwood and the head is traditionally made from goatskin.
We learnt how to hold the drum to let the sound vibrate and practised two of the main sounds of bass and tone. The bass sound is produced by striking the drum with the palm and flat fingers near the centre of the skin. The tone is produced by striking the drum closer to the edge of the skin. We practised both hits by reciting the phrase “Batman, Batgirl” in time with each other.
To end the session, we played a game of “Don’t hit this rhythm back”, where the children had to copy any beats that Derek made UNLESS it made the tune of “Don’t hit this rhythm back”, where if you did hit it back, you were eliminated! It got quite competitive!
We can’t wait till next week!
