Welcome to Year 5.
We are looking forward to a super fun-packed year of learning and growing together.
We have lots of exciting lessons planned to inspire and engage your children in their journey through Year 5.

Useful Information:
PE days: Every Thursday and alternate Fridays.
Please bring in PE kit and leave at school in case it is needed on additional days – thank you.
Forest school: Spring 1 half term.
Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school.
Topic Projects
Autumn – Pharaohs
We will step into the world of Ancient Egypt starting with a trip to the Great North Museum.
Spring 1 – Allotment
We will discover and observe what community members are growing and how they use the land beginning with a visit to a local allotment.
Spring 2 – Stargazers
We will explore Stars and Planets in the Universe incorporating a visit to The Centre of Life Planetarium.
Summer – Tudors
We will study life during the Tudor period commencing with the trial of Anne Boleyn; through investigation and discussion we will decide if she was guilty.
Seesaw is up and running and this will be used to set homework and post photos to give you a little insight into what we are getting up to during the day.
Homework will be issued on a Wednesday and is to be returned to school the following Monday.
We ask that you read with your child for 15 minutes each day. Reading is vitally important to mental stimulation, knowledge expansion and better writing skills.
Reading books to be in school every day so that they can take part in our reading scheme Accelerated Reader.
