Tag Rugby Champions

By Mr G Mcintosh12th July 2016

Yesterday teams from years five and six took part in the annual tag rugby tournament at Hebburn.

We took three teams from each year group and every team played brilliantly, in fact the only time one of our teams lost a match was against one of our other teams!

The final was decided between Year six A and Year five A.  A game of highly skilled play and amazing teamwork saw the year six team finish victorious with a score of 3 tries to 1.  However, the match was much closer than the score suggests with the final try being scored by year six in the dying minutes as the year five team pressed for an equaliser.

The staff were hugely proud of all of our children’s dedication, fair play and exemplary behaviour.

Photographs of the event can be seen here.

Well done every one!

Pirate Puppets!

By Mr G Mcintosh8th July 2016

We have been busy bees crafting over the last couple of weeks in Year 2. We started by designing a puppet then we decorated and sewed it together.

We also designed our own pirate flags.

We’re going on a treasure hunt!

By Mr G Mcintosh5th July 2016

In English at the moment we are transforming the well loved story we’re going on a bear hunt to our own we’re going on a treasure hunt story. We started by learning and acting out the story we’re going on a bear hunt and have now planned our own obstacles that we will face, when finding hidden treasure on a deserted island.

We can’t wait to finish writing them! More pics to follow of our super-duper stories.

Girl’s Football!

By Mr G Mcintosh30th June 2016

Tonight, the girls from years five and six played their very first competitive games in the Bede Burn blue kit!  Simonside and St Oswalds Hebburn brought teams along and all of the girls played really well.

Although the main aim was for the girls to get a chance to represent their schools and have fun, there had to be a winnng team…

Of course it was Bede Burn!  The team won the first game 3 – 0 and the second 4 – 0!  Everyone played brilliantly and all the matches were played in a superb spirit!

Really well done girls and thank you to all the family and friends that came along to support them!

Year 6 Leaver’s Hoodies

By Mr G Mcintosh30th June 2016

Y6 received their leaver’s hoodies yesterday. You can tell from their faces how much they love them.

The class are currently raising money for these as part of an enterprise project. Thank you to all who bought tea or coffee at the Queen’s Birthday Party or who bought a number in our hundred club. This raised a lot of money towards the hoodies.

Texts will be going out soon to the winners of the 100 club.

Y6 will be selling ice pops for 20p and other refreshments at sports day so look out for our stall!

Thank you for your support!

Mrs Todd and Y6

Race For Life 2016

By Mr G Mcintosh20th June 2016

This morning the children ran, walked, skipped and bounded around the track at Monkton as Bede Burn’s effort to take part in the race for life!

The sun stayed out and all of the children had a brilliant time, we definitely have some future Olympians in our midst, with many older children completing ten laps!

Many thanks to all of the parents, carers and grandparents who came along and joined in, and to all of the little brothers and sisters who also ran or toddled!

It was a great morning and everyone had fun.  I even managed ten laps as part of my Great North Run Training!

Huge thanks to Mrs Kiely for organising the event and well done all of Bede Burn!

Some photographs of the event can be seen here.

The Queen’s Birthday Party.

By Mr G Mcintosh13th June 2016

A huge thanks to all of you that attended the Queen’s birthday party after school last Friday.   Although the weather wasn’t brilliant we carried on in true British fashion and enjoyed picnics on the field!

You can see a selection of photographs from the event here.

I must say it was a brilliant effort by all of our staff and children and I’m sure that the Queen would be delighted that we all had such a good time in her honour!

Treasure Map Fun!

By Mr G Mcintosh23rd May 2016

Year 2 are really enjoying our pirate topic this term and had great fun making their own treasure maps. Lots of children have even made their own maps at home.

We made keys for our maps first, making up our own symbols and naming them. We then tea bagged our maps to make them look old. Once the maps were dry we created our own treasure maps adding symbols from our keys.

They look fantastic and everyone was super proud of their map!
