Year 4/5 enjoyed the Skipping into Christmas festival this morning. Check out some of our skipping skills!

Year Four had a fantastic morning at St Oswald’s on Tuesday. We watched a Christmas movie, took part in some festive activities and even had time for a few treats! It was lovely to spend time with our penpals 🎄🧑🎄

Mrs Smith had the absolute privilege of accompanying Bede Burn school choir to the annual Carol service at Jarrow Cemetery!! The children sang beautifully and were a real credit to Bede Burn! Thank you so much to the choir and their parents for coming along on a Saturday! It was a real festive treat despite the rain ️ and the children carried on regardless!


Y4/5 visited St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy on Wednesday morning to participate in a P.E. event led by their Sport’s Leaders where we enjoyed completing various sporting activities and challenges. We completed football, netball, cheerleading and agility challenges. Check out some of our in action photos!
Year 4 had a fantastic No Pens Day on Tuesday! In Maths, the children explored multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. They used place value mats to show how digits move, helping them explain their methods.
In English, the children used their oracy skills to give each other step by step instructions on how to make the perfect sandwich . They listened carefully, spoke clearly and had lots of fun!
During History, the children became reporters for the afternoon. They created their own news reports to tell the story of a Viking raid on Lindisfarne. They spent time developing and rehearsing their lines, focusing on projection and engaging their audience. Well done Year Four!
During Y4’s DT topic, we designed , made and evaluated a healthy snack. We decided we wanted to make fruity popcorn. We added blueberries, grapes and cinnamon. It was very yummy!

During our RE topic, Year 4 have been discussing how belief in incarnation influences the lives and choices of Christians. In groups, we looked at Bible passages and described how parts of these passages reflect the concept of incarnation.

Today, Year Four celebrated Children In Need by taking part in lots of fun activities including ‘code breaking’ linked to our Maths and English learning. We were also so impressed with their fabulous outfits!
