Last week, Year 4 continued their transition English sequence. To prepare to write our instructions on how to make beans on toast, Year 4 instructed Miss Lauder step by step to help her make beans on toast in the classroom. They were delicious! Well done Year 4.

Year 4 enjoyed our Forest School session this afternoon which was linked to our current Science topic ‘Grouping and Classifying’. We explored the Plant Kingdom and Plant Classification to further develop our knowledge and understanding of classification keys.

This week we have been focusing on developing our posture during our Oracy sessions. Year 3/4 were tasked with balancing a book on their head whilst maintaining good posture through keeping our shoulders back and down and our torso up straight. We enjoyed the challenge and competed against each other to see how far we could travel whilst keeping the book balanced.

Year 3/4 had a lovely start to the morning with eating pancakes and sharing poetry books as part of our reading for pleasure. We enjoyed sharing these poems between the two classes.

Y4 had a great time yesterday immersing themselves in books at Jarrow library!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 4 enjoyed participating in two raingarden sessions with John which were linked to our current topic ‘Misty Mountain, Winding River’. Our first afternoon involved us developing our understanding of what a rain garden is and how we were going to make our rain garden. Our second afternoon involved us creating our rain garden which we have built outside our Year 4 classroom.
