Y4 – English – Breakfast with a book – 13.11.2025

Year Four had a great time this morning during ‘Breakfast with a Book’. First, we read stories with our friends. Then, it was time for toast and juice . We finished the morning by reading a whole class book about Katherine Johnson and her contribution to Space travel!

Y4 – Science – Pitch and Volume Vibrations –

Year Four began their new ‘Sound’ Science topic yrstrrday afternoon. We created a carousel of sound activities including changing pitch and volume, creating visible vibrations and listening to environmental sounds outdoors. We recorded our observations and used these to form any further questions for future lessons

Y4 – History – Trip to Jarrow Hall – 7.11.2025

Year Four had a fantastic time at Jarrow Hall! We explored an Anglo Saxon farm and village. After lunch, we practiced some weaving linked to Anglo Saxon textiles and re-enacted  a battle between the Vikings and Anglo Saxons ️

Y4 – DT – Designing Food Packaging – 5.11.2025

In our ‘ Fresh Food, Good Food’ topic, Y4 designed and made their own food packaging for Fruity Popcorn. We decided we would need to add a brand name , ingredients and a best before date. We had so much fun!

Year 6 have ended their musical unit by composing their own 4 bar melody, inspired by the song Riverside Sunset.

Y4 – History – Our visit to Jarrow Monastery – 20.10.2025

Year Four had a great time visiting Jarrow Monastery this morning. We met our pen pals from St Oswalds and teamed up to investigate the ruins. We used a heritage map to explore the remains of the old Anglo Saxon hall, cemetery and refectory. .

As part of Unit 4, year 4 enjoyed playing charades and lotto to learn about animals in French.

Y4 – Music – 16 Beat Rhythms – 13.10.2025

Year 4 had fun composing their own rhythm , using patterns of long and short sounds. In groups, the children created a 16 beat rhythm of their own.  The children then performed their rhythms!

Y4 – Art – Warm and Cool Colours – 9.10.2025

Yesterday afternoon, Year Four used their knowledge of warm and cool colours to create paintings of an interesting object from home. We made sure to use warm colours in the foreground and cool colours in the background to create an illusion of depth

KS2 – PE – Cross Country Competition – 25.9.2025
