Year 2 have been looking at why light is important to Christians and they made Christingles after discussing what each part symbolised.
The orange is the world, the red ribbon is the love and blood of Christ, the sticks are the 4 seasons, the sweets are God’s creations on earth and the candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
Year 2 have been learning a range of different skills in Forest School, orienteering, rain gauge making and even creating and testing our own wooden rafts.


Y2 were straight into writing coastal setting descriptions for their cold write this morning. This is the beginning of their brand new topic ‘Coastlines’.
As part of ‘Christmas around the world’ Y2 learnt all about Argentinian Christmas. We made lanterns (Globos) and sang Feliz Navidad amongst learning facts and comparing our Christmas traditions with theirs. Did you know it’s summer in Argentina at Christmas? Imagine that!
We built on the work in assembly by learning all about carbon monoxide. Y2 found out all about the symptoms of CO poisoning and how you can spot an unhealthy flame. We also learned about how a fire safely burns in a house and how chimney sweeps are still really essential, even in 2022!
Zayn and Zaki visited family in London and Somerset, passing stone henge on the way. They spent lots of time with cousins and great granny and had lots of fun in the grounds of Maunsel house collecting sweet chestnuts, apples, feeding peacocks and seeing how the locks work in the canal. They also saw how cows like classical music…
