Year 2 have hit the ground running with their DT project. We planned, created and evaluate our prayer mats using the new skills we have learned including running stitch for appliqué, printing, attaching buttons and sequins.
Year 2 got practical in maths this week when looking at weight in kg. We weighed ourselves and compared our weights by finding the difference between different people.
We used vocabulary such as heavier, lighter and equal.
Year 2 got stuck into eco week this week where our focus was on South America.
We located the country using maps and globes, thought about the climate and animals and their habitats and finally engaged in a debate about deforestation of the Amazon rain forest. We were lucky enough to virtually meet a polar oceanographer, soil scientist and a palaeontologist. We loved it!
Year 2 have loved making pizza. We thought about our ingredients, method and then wrote instructions so others can make pizza too!
In English this week we went on a fairy story hunt looking to practice possessive apostrophes where we were giving clues to our classmates to guess which fairy story we had chosen for example “the girl’s glass slipper” as a clue for Cinderella.
In history, Year Two have been learning about chronology.
We looked at different periods of history and which monarchs reigned during these periods.
We put together our own timeline and worked out which monarchs reigned during that period.
On Wednesday Year 2 put their DT skills to the test when constructing their beach huts.
On Friday, Year Two took their maths outdoors to consolidate their knowledge on direction. We practised moving forwards, backwards, left and right.
