KS2 – PE – Swimming Gala – 6.2.2025

Yesterday some of our KS2 children attended our very first swimming gala at Haven Point. The afternoon was a fabulous display of skill, sportsmanship, and team spirit!

Y4 – History – Trip to York – 28.1.2025

Year 4 had an amazing day at Jorvik, York, We first enjoyed the Jorvik experience where we went through a Viking village before we participated in a Viking Battle Tactics Workshop at DIG. We had a fantastic day and the staff were super impressed with Year 4’s behaviour. Well done Year 4!

Y4 – Science – Rain Gardens – 22.1.2025

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 4 enjoyed participating in two raingarden sessions with John which were linked to our current topic ‘Misty Mountain, Winding River’. Our first afternoon involved us developing our understanding of what a rain garden is and how we were going to make our rain garden. Our second afternoon involved us creating our rain garden which we have built outside our Year 4 classroom.

Y4 – PE – Sports Hall Athletics Competition – 18.1.2025

Year 4 represented Bede Burn on Friday at the Year 4 Sportshall Athletics Competition at Temple Park.We participated in various track and field events, which included the 4x 1 relay (and obstacle), 1+1 lap relay (and obstacle), 2 _ 2 lap relay, standing long jump, chest push, soft javelin, speed bounce, 5 strides and the vertical jump.
We were just pipped to the medals as we finished 4th, however we had some amazing performances throughout the morning. We tried our best in each of the events and the encouragement shown to our fellow team mates when they were competing was excellent. Well done Year 4, you made us proud!

Y3/4 – History – Digging Deeper into the past – 10.01.2025

Year 3 and 4 had a great morning exploring and digging in our Archaeology experience! We enjoyed an assembly all about Archaeology then a class workshop. We thoroughly enjoyed working in groups to do an Archaeology dig which involved us taking on the roles of excavators, illustrators and dusters. It gave us a great insight into the profession and we would love to explore this more. Check out our photos!

Y4 – Singing for the brain event – 9.12.24

This afternoon, Year 4 were invited on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society to participate in a Singing for the Brain event where we sang various Christmas songs to people who are living with Dementia.

This was another successful Christmas singing performance from Year 4 which we thoroughly enjoyed! We enjoyed some juice and sweets afterwards for our brilliant Christmas singing. The Alzheimer’s Society said they would love to welcome us back to sing again in the future. Well done Year 4!

Y4 – Christmas activities with St Oz – 5.12.24

Year 4 enjoyed a festive, Christmas morning at St. Oswald’s Primary School this morning where we enjoyed watching a Christmas movie (The Grinch), with hot chocolate and festive colourings. We had a lovely morning and thank you St Oz for hosting our Year 4 collab.

Y4 – Science Investigation 4.12.24

As part of our Forest School session this afternoon, Year 4 carried out a Sound Investigation. We investigated the change in volume of sounds when we change the distance from the sound source. We used a special app on our ipads to measure the decibels of the sound source.
We discussed whether our investigation was a fair test and the factors that impacted on our results and why these occurred.

Y4 – No Pens Day – 26.11.24

3rd December 2024Iain Usher
It was a busy ‘No Pens Day’ in Year 4, we spent time discussing the perplex picture of a Viking warrior and used our oracy skills to discuss what could have just happened, what may happen and why things have happened.
We also performed the poem “From a Railway Carriage” by Robert Louis Stevenson using words, actions and sound effects.
Finally we learnt the Christmas song, “O Holy Night” sing Makaton sign language. Our parents and carers were very impressed!
