In DT last week, year 6 worked in groups to build strong bridges adding triangles to their construction. They used their knowledge from last week‘s lesson to start their structure with the strongest foundations adding triangles for strength.
Year 6 researched Polar Bears, creating fabulous documentary style movies, (all of which can be seen on Seesaw.) They also researched facts about David Attenborough, creating poster style fact files.

Continuing with their Inuit art topic, year 6 sketched and painted their own versions of Kenojuak Ashevak’s The Enchanted Owl.
In science, year six compared and gave reasons for variations in how components in electrical circuits function (brightness of lamps; volume of buzzers and function of on or off switches.)

In DT, year 6 investigated how strength can be added to a paper bridge framework by using multiple layers or changing it’s shape.

In RE, year 6 have been learning about God’s creation of the earth for mankind. They discussed ways in which we could express our love and gratitude to God by being good stewards in this world, creating posters to present their ideas.
As part of their Inuit Art topic, year 6 carved soap in the style of Joe Ashoona, a significant Inuit artist.
For World Religion Day, year 6 have been learning about Judaism – exploring the origins, symbols, special places and festivals.

For World Composers Day Year 6 have explored the life of Edward Elgar and listened to some of his compositions. They also composed their own rhythms, on the tongue drums, focussing on quavers, crotchets and minimums.
