In Autumn Term 1, in their art topic, Tints,Tones and Shades, year 6 learned about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and exploring mixing tints, shades and tones. They learned about significant landscape artworks and features of landscapes before using this knowledge to create landscape paintings.
Year 6 have been collaborating and communicating with friends at opposite ends of the classroom. Together they need to create a fact file about Jamaica using Google slides.

In Unit 10, Les Vêtements, year 6 have had fun learning how to say what they and other people are wearing and to write sentences describing theirs and others’ clothing.
Year 6 compared a processed tomato sauce with a homemade tomato sauce with a huge majority of votes for the homemade version. They then discussed the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Year 6 are continuing with their drama sessions. We are now adding words and actions to our freeze frames about African home life scene before delving into the capture phase of the slave trade. 
Every Friday, year 6 share the book they are reading with their peers.
Yr6 year had a great morning on Friday at the fire station learning about reducing accidents in play. They had sessions with the fire service, police, the electricity board, the RNLI, Nexus and the road safety department.
Year 6 started drama lessons yesterday. They focussed on creating freeze frames about life in ancient Africa.
Year Six took part in their first Gymnastics lesson. They began by playing a game of ‘walk the plank’ to test their teamwork. After that, they practiced stance and posture. They finished the lesson by showing off some very tricky balancing skills!
