In forest school, year 6 continued their DT topic, Engineer, moving on from building paper bridges to designing and building bridges from materials collected in the forest garden.

In sessions 3, 4 and 5 of KidSafe, year 6 learned about: movie and game ratings; staying safe on the internet; how to look after your body and private places and arguments at home or with loved ones.

Today, year 6 began their new art topic, Environmental Artists, by researching environmental artists and what their art represents.

Y6 loved poetry and pancakes – enjoying and sharing poems.
After researching images of printmaking by the artist Kenojuak Ashevak, year six created their own thumbnail sketches before producing stencil prints.
In year 6’s final netball session, they practised all of the skills they had learned throughout Spring term 1 before combining them in their end of lesson matches.
In DT last week, year 6 worked in groups to build strong bridges adding triangles to their construction. They used their knowledge from last week‘s lesson to start their structure with the strongest foundations adding triangles for strength.
Year 6 researched Polar Bears, creating fabulous documentary style movies, (all of which can be seen on Seesaw.) They also researched facts about David Attenborough, creating poster style fact files.

Continuing with their Inuit art topic, year 6 sketched and painted their own versions of Kenojuak Ashevak’s The Enchanted Owl.
In science, year six compared and gave reasons for variations in how components in electrical circuits function (brightness of lamps; volume of buzzers and function of on or off switches.)
