Last week, years 5 and 6 took part in The Quad Kids Athletic Tournament. Everyone participated in a variety of athletic activities: howler throwing, long jump, 75m sprint and a 600m run.

Year 5 had a great Forest School session on Friday afternoon. We learned about heterogeneous mixtures and homogeneous mixtures where we specifically focused on filtering, evaporating and sieving as part of our Science learning. Check out some of our photos!
Year 5 had an interactive workshop with Sophie from Jarrow Sea Cadets! We had lots of fun working together in small groups to construct our own catapults. This helped us develop some important transferable skills, such as resilience, teamwork and leadership – skills that are key to the role of a Sea Cadet. Well done year 5!
Year 5 practised the javelin and their sprinting in yesterday’s afternoon’s P.E. lesson in preparation for the Quadkids Athletics competition next week. Check out some of our photos!
On their Diversity Day visit to France, Year 5 learned all about the country’s physical and man-made features, as well as naming its towns, cities, and famous landmarks. They had fun playing, “Jacques a dit” and “Trouvez le criminal.”

On Monday, Year 5 went to Boldon Cricket Club where we participated in the Countdown Cricket tournament. Check out some of our in action photos!

In PE this week, year 5 completed their second cricket lesson in preparation for an upcoming tournament. We got into a batting and fielding team and applied our skills to play a match. Well done year 5!

As part of our whole school Storytelling Day, year 5 performed Theseus and the Minotaur using freeze frames and body percussion. Well done year 5!
