Reception took part in the EYFS Superheroes Festival at Temple Park. We participated in different challenges throughout the afternoon and best of all, we were dressed as superheroes

As part of reception’s topic ‘Long Ago’, we have been looking at the different seasons and how it affects the weather and the environment around us. We created our own trees to show the different seasons.
Today we celebrated World Religion Day in reception. We talked about the different religions around the world and the similarities they all had. We then concentrated on Islam, creating our own prayers mats and colouring activities.

As part of Reception topic ‘Stories and Rhymes’ we enjoyed reading The Gingerbread Man. We then received a letter from the little old woman and the little old man asking for our help to create a new gingerbread man as their own had ran away. We enjoyed decorating and eating them on Friday.
As part of World Composer Day, reception were looking at Florence Price. We discussed her early life and how she became a composer, we listened to her music and enjoyed being composers ourselves. We then held a quiz to see how much we could remember and finally talking about how her music made us feel and gave it a rating out of 5.

In reception today, we have been looking at and discussing old photographs. We then created our own black and white photos using the iPads.

Yesterday, reception enjoyed Christmas jumper and STEM day. We designed and created pine cone Christmas trees and lots of fun activities throughout the day.
Reception had a wonderful time during our little dribblers PE session this week. They were learning how to kick the ball and control it once it reached their feet. The whole class did such a great job!

On Tuesday, Reception visited The Urban Factory for an EYFS Coordination Festival. We have been climbing, rolling, jumping, crawling, throwing, catching and lots more gross motor skills.
We had lots of fun!
Bede Burn and St Oswald’s enjoyed a ‘Marvellous Machines’ day on Friday. Hitachi visited us and we enjoyed learning about the different machines that help us.
