In Year 1, we have been learning about Rosh Hashanah as part of our RE topic ‘Judaism’. In lesson today, we have been making our own shofar horns.
In RE, Year 1 have been talking about Shabbat, as part of their topic ‘Judaism’. We discussed the different features of a Shabbat table and had a look at some of the special items that are used.

In Year 1, we have been creating our own fruit salads as part of our DT topic ‘Chop, slice and mash’. We prepared all the fruit, remembering how to use the equipment safely from our last lesson.

In Year 1, as part of their topic ‘Chop, slice and mash’, they have been chopping, slicing, mashing and peeling different fruits and vegetables and then tasting them to investigate the taste and texture.

Year 1 have built on their data collection from last week by learning how to use Google Sheets. They had to total their tallies from the traffic survey before editing cells on Chromebooks. Very impressive Year 1 ⭐

Yesterday Y1 were very excited because they finally got to make their rain gauges! It was hard work, cutting and labelling the bottle but we never gave up.
Afterwards, we explained what we had to do next and we made predictions. We hope it pours down this weekend! ☔️

Y1 worked really impressively in pairs, keen to find different ways to organise the shapes!

Y1 completed a traffic survey to collect data for their spreadsheets in computing.

Well Y1 what can we say? What an amazing, enthusiastic performance from you this morning leading our grandparents through the decade of the 2000’s with your fabulous performances of ‘Breaking Free’ which was performed in two groups and also ‘Reach’. You definitely made us smile and had us all singing along with Sophia leading the way on the microphone ! Well done Y1!
