In Whacky Wellbeing club this week, we looked relaxation activities such as colouring in and origami. We made paper aeroplanes and then decorated them.
Mrs Swanson led a whole school assembly this morning really getting us to think and challenge ourselves linked to our vision of Think BIG…Dream BIG.. Go for it and our aspirations for 2023 !! It was a super start to our New Year at Bede Burn.
We thought about our main words linked to our vision for this term which are ‘aspire’ and ‘inspire’. The children thought about some people who have inpired them such as Neil Armstrong, Christiano Ronaldo and Greta Thunberg. The children were given a task by Mrs Swanson this week to develop their own aspiration dream jar. Some of these will be added to our hall display.
Thank you Mrs Swanson for leading such a fab assembly and really challenging us regarding our aspirations for this coming year.
A big thank you to Dr Bike who came in to school today to give a number of pupil’s bikes an inspection. It’s great that we can give children the opportunity to exercise and travel to and from school as safely as possible.
All of Bede Burn were lucky enough to be part of a brilliant assembly this morning delivered by Miss Summers giving us loads of facts about the Hindu Festival of Diwali also known as the festival of light. We learnt about the associated traditions such as cleaning the house prior, making rangoli patterns with candles in to invite the God Lakshmi into the home to bless it.
They also celebrate with fireworks and rows of lights. This is linked to the story of Rama and Sita and them defeating good over evil!
Thanks Miss Summers for such a brilliant start to our day!
Mrs Smith flew back to the UK on Friday ready for her oldest girl Sophie’s wedding to Matt! The Smith’s had a fab day and jetted back out to Spain on Sunday!
Mrs Smith, Mr Smith and Henry have been on the road from Sunderland to their villa in Spain and have arrived today after three days of driving. We’ve had a great adventure stopping at Reims in France and then Girona in Spain before getting to our little Spanish village near Cartegena! Mrs Smith will keep you updated of her adventures over the Summer!
Here is our excellent school council delivering a Pride reflection assembly!
School Councillors have decorated and introduced our Friendship/Inclusion bench
Well done to Isobelle in Y3 for the resilience she has shown recently and therefore received this award. Her mam isn’t well and she has shown really strength and bravery. We are really proud of her and hope her mam is better soon!!
A MASSIVE well done to our maths and English pupil progress award winners for this year. These awards are not for those who are necessarily top of the class but for those who have made the most progress from their starting points since September. Well done for all of your hardwork!!
