Year Three

Science and Mathematics, Outside in the cold!

22nd October 2014Mr G Mcintosh

Year three have been using their mathematical skills; measuring and using compass directions to help them with their science topic.  Using meter rulers, chalk and the sunlight, they braved the icy winds and combined some very accurate mathematics with some equally interesting hypothesis to investigate how the shadows change as the earth rotates.

They fly through the air with the greatest of ease…

22nd October 2014Mr G Mcintosh

Year three have been busy this week, in their PE sessions they have been learning all about cheer leading!  Their coach, Kimberly, has shown them how the sport combines dance, gymnastics and even a bit of acrobatics!  Miss Lenney has been quite shocked to see some of her children ‘flying’ as they are lifted and supported by the rest of the class!

It has been an excellent way to, not only hone their athletic skills, but to also learn to trust each other and work as part of a team with the same end goal.  Brilliant effort year three!IMG_0497 IMG_0498 IMG_0499 IMG_0490 IMG_0492 IMG_0493 IMG_0494 IMG_0495 IMG_0496

Reading in Strange Places…

9th October 2014Mr G Mcintosh

To promote our campaign of reading whenever you get the chance, year three have taken this to the extreme, showing that you really can read where ever you are! I found the children in all sorts of strange places around the school with their noses buried in their books. Check out the gallery here.

If the rest of the school wants to get involved, why not see who can have their photograph taken reading a book in the most extreme or unusual place?  Use the school info contact to send in any pictures and we will add them to the gallery!

School is…

7th October 2014Mr G Mcintosh

Last week parents from year three and four were invited into school to meet Miss Lenney and Miss Summers and see what their children were learning about.  As part of the day the parents and children worked together to produce a poem detailing what they felt ‘school is…’

A copy of the poem is posted below!
