Y3 – English – Trip to Jarrow Library – 26.3.2025

Year 3 had a wonderful time visiting Jarrow library!

We had two fantastic stories read to us which we really enjoyed and then we were able to choose our own library books to take back to school with us. We loved exploring all the different books in the library.

Y3 – Maths – Fantastic Fractions – 20.3.2025

Year 3 have been using flashback four questions in maths today!

We have been developing our problem solving skills whilst working with partners. We were consolidating our learning of our most recent topic fractions before we move onto our new unit mass and capacity.
Year 3 loved learning all about fractions!!

Y3 – Music – Grandparents Concert – 18.3.2025

Well done Y3 today in transporting us to the 1960’s this morning for our grandparents. You performed ‘California Dreaming’ beautifully using call and response in two parts and then blew our socks off with the Beatles classic ‘A little help from my friends’. So proud well done Y3!

Y3 – DT – Innovative Challenge Day – 14.3.2025

As part of Innovative Challenge Day, Year 3 have enjoyed creating their very own invention that will be used to either travel across the ocean or to have fun in the ocean!

After we designed these, we then presented our inventions to the class using our oracy skills to help us!

Year 3 have really been enjoying their Music unit this half term.

We are learning all about body percussion building towards creating our own piece of music using body percussion!

After looking at L.S. Lowry’s simple art form in their latest art topic ‘People and Places’, Year Three tried drawing with detail, using their own hand as a model and applied their shading techniques to add depth and form.

Y3 – Science – Animal Adaptations Workshop Part 1 – 12.3.2025

As part of British Science week Year 3 had a fantastic live lesson this morning all about Amazing Adaptations and climate change!

It was very interesting to learn about how farmers use sustainability and green energy to help the environment as well as provide us with our delicious food. We even got to see a live birth of a baby calf!
We can’t wait for our next live lesson this afternoon!

Y3 – English – World Book Day – 6.3.2025

Year 3 had a wonderful World Book Day!

We began the day with reading our favourite stories and sharing our costumes with each other. We then enjoyed some activities such as a word search, designing our own bookmarks and creating a brand new front cover for our character we dressed up as!
We continued into the afternoon with a trip to see Mrs Richardson who had musical books ready for us. We ended the day creating an acrostic poem all about pebbles linking to our World Book Day book ‘The pebble in my pocket’ and designed our very own pebble that we can take with us wherever we go.

Y3 – Maths – Length and Perimeter – 21.2.2025

Year 3 have had a fun filled morning working with their partners to solve flashback four questions based on our length and perimeter unit we have recently completed. Within that they also had some extra challenges to complete based on fractions which is our next unit after half term!
Year 3 worked very hard and impressed us with their knowledge and teamwork.

Y3/4 – Oracy – Posture – 12.2.2025

This week we have been focusing on developing our posture during our Oracy sessions. Year 3/4 were tasked with balancing a book on their head whilst maintaining good posture through keeping our shoulders back and down and our torso up straight. We enjoyed the challenge and competed against each other to see how far we could travel whilst keeping the book balanced.
